What is a “Highline”?

The BMW E32 750iL Highline is a special version of BMW’s highest-trim flagship sedan between 1987-1994, the 750iL (which is already the ultimate 7-series, which is already the ultimate BMW, which is already the ultimate driving machine :)) The Highline version added ultra-luxury features such as a fridge (coolbox), wood-trim tables for the rear passengers, rear radio controls, an integrated car telephone, a separate dual-zone rear climate control unit, power heated seats (front and rear), sunshades, independent heating and ventilation, electronically-adjustable suspension firmness (EDC) and a slew of other amenities and engineering marvels that were almost unimaginable in the late 80s and early 90s.

How rare are they?

An estimated 5000 units of the Highline version have been produced, exclusively in European / Rest-of-the-world spec (i.e. this version was NOT available in North America). How many of them are still on the roads is unknown, but my own experience in monitoring for these cars is that usually only 2-3 of them show up for sale per year worldwide.
